Ahamkara
Definition: The sense of ego or 'I-maker'; the identification with body, mind, and senses that creates a feeling of separateness.
Insights: Ahamkara is the root of all ego-based afflictions. It is the false identification with the body, mind, and senses, and the consequent sense of separateness from the rest of existence. Overcoming ahamkara involves cultivating a sense of unity and interconnectedness with all of life.
