Sarupya
Definition: Identification; the condition of taking on the form or qualities of something else, especially the mind’s identification with its own modifications.
Insights: Sarupya is the state in which the seer (drastr) identifies with the fluctuations of the mind (vrittis), losing sight of its true nature. This mistaken identification underlies ignorance and bondage. Yogic practice restores discernment, allowing recognition of the Self as distinct from mental activity.
